The most useful home-delivered meals delivery day tips are simple: keep your phone number current, share entry or buzzer notes through the official channel and know who to call with a delivery question. These small steps help drivers find you and help the team reach you if anything changes. Delivery arrangements vary by area and program, so this post sticks to what you can do and where to ask.
How delivery arrangements work where you live
Delivery days, times and routes vary by area and program. We do not publish delivery schedules in this post, because they are set for each route and can change. The team for your state can explain how deliveries are arranged for you.
Good questions to ask the team for your state:
- How will I know which day my meals are coming?
- Will someone call or text before a delivery?
- What should I do if I will not be home?
Home-delivered meals delivery day tips
Keep your phone number up to date
A current phone number goes a long way. If the driver cannot find your door, or if the team needs to tell you about a change, they need a number that works. If your number changes, tell the team for your state right away.
Share entry or buzzer notes through the official channel
If your building has a buzzer code, a side entrance or a tricky door, tell the team for your state by phone or email. Their contact details are on our locations page. Please do not post entry codes or your address in social media comments or messages.
Tell the team your preferred language
If you prefer to talk in a language other than English, say so. Ask which language support is currently available for your state.
Know who to call with a delivery question
Save the contact details for your state's team where you can find them easily. You can find them through our locations page and the Request a call page.

When your meal arrives
Read the instructions on your meal's label, and ask before eating if they are missing or unclear. As a general food-safety rule, the U.S. Department of Agriculture advises never leaving perishable food out of refrigeration for more than 2 hours, or more than 1 hour if the temperature is above 90°F. If you are not eating a perishable meal right away, store it promptly using the meal instructions and safe temperatures. Do not rely on reheating to fix unsafe storage.
How to report a change in contact details or availability
Life changes, and that is okay. Tell the team for your state if:
- Your phone number changes
- You will be away, for example on a trip or a hospital stay
- Your address or entry instructions change
- Someone else should be the main contact, with your permission
Use the official contact path for your state. If you have a service coordinator, it can also help to let them know about bigger changes, such as a move or a hospital stay.

Where to ask delivery questions
For any question about your deliveries, contact the Meals Direct team for your state through the official path. Start with our locations page if you are not sure which team to contact.
Please keep health details and personal information out of social media comments and messages. A social media comment is not the right place to ask about your specific delivery.
What to do if a delivery seems to be missed
If your meals have not arrived when you expected them:
- Check for a message or call from the team or the driver.
- Contact the Meals Direct team for your state through the official path.
- Have your details ready, such as your name, address and the day you expected the delivery. Share these only through the official path.
